CherYsh at the TCS World 10K, 2018

The TCS World 10K run kicked off on 27th May, 2018 in Bengaluru. CherYsh was represented by a team of 38 runners – students, senior citizens, homemakers and professionals signed up to run for the cause of education for rural girls. Among them was the CherYsh team from Haliyal – four Learning Facilitators, two CherYsh Field Officers, and four Shiksha students—Jayshree, Tasalambi, Darshan and Isubsab—who got their first taste of a big run in a big city! The Field Team ran to raise funds for books, digital devices and infrastructure for their CherYsh Shikshas.

The energy and team spirit was evident long before Race day, with Youth Teams and individuals pitching their fundraising efforts through personal connections and social media outreach.  Their efforts paid off and helped to raise funds for the Shikshas. The passion of the Youth Teams was particularly laudable as they pitched for raising funds to provide the Shiksha children their daily mid-evening snack, a nutritious peanut laddoo made at the CherYsh Community Kitchens.

While each one of our runners is a champion, our Senior runner Kalpana deserves special mention for winning a 3rd place in her category. Our Youth Teams made it to the India Cares Wall of Change. Our Youth Cares champions Ethan, Akhila and Darshan were the highest fundraisers in their category, exceeding their target by 300%. CherYsh won the Race Week Shakti Fund contribution from India Cares for receiving highest contributions in the Race week.
